Birmingham types! My band Arbor Lights are supporting an amazing amazing band by the name of Nordic Giants tonight at the Hare & Hounds. If you’re in the area you should come down! We have a cheap list for £1 off the ticket price (only £5!) so if you fancy a Thursday night out let me know!
So, the song with the bowed bass is finished. It’s got a three-minute droning intro, the aforementioned bowed bass, a section that sounds like Siamese Dream-era Smashing Pumpkins and the most shamelessly post-rock moments we’ve ever written. Basically, heck yes.
I will not stop talking about this forever. IT IS SO GOOD YOU GUYS.
Well, shit. We met up with Jon the drummer today and spent four hours jamming and noodling away. The freedom to just fuck about and do whatever was amazing. I made glorious sound collage things using fucked up loops I found on the RC-20 I use and a recording Greg has of Mark E Smith of The Fall interviewing himself on one of their records - think an equally jazzy, slightly upbeat take on Kid A-esque Radiohead. We fucked about with slide guitars and Jon used no toms and I spent a lot of time on synth. Next week we’ll be doing the same, hopefully adding a fourth member. I am really excited.
