Ask me stuff!   Arbor Lights   Last.fm

Matt, twenty-one, Birmingham. My life is a series of horrific embarrassments, strung together by the odd good bit. If you cut me, I probably bleed Jack Daniels. I enjoy post rock, books, and guitars. Did I mention I'm in a band?

Also, something I didn’t post yesterday…every day we go to practice we end up jamming something totally spontaneous at the start to warm up. Here’s the one we did yesterday. It’s like Amplifier and Sonic Youth and Mogwai all having a big fucking gangbang and totally loving it.

    Totally boss evening.

Greg and I met up with Jon tonight, the prospective drummer for our extra musical venture. He’s a really sound fella who loves his prog and seems really into our ideas and up for trying new things. We’re going to run wild with our ideas, it’s going to be sweet.

Amusingly, while drinking in Bacchus and discussing Half Man Half Biscuit a 45-year old fella called Roy came up to us and started talking, telling us how great he thought our ideas were! He started recounting stories to us of meeting Oasis and sharing spliffs with the Gallaghers. He’s an artist and it turned out he’d done all the art in our band local! Amazing. Such a good evening.

We wrote this song tonight. I’m pretty proud of it!

That’s When I Reach For My Revolver - Mission of Burma
The chords in the chorus are so good. Also I’m suspecting they had quite a big influence on Trail of Dead (it’s more obvious to me than Sonic Youth), this could easily be a song from Madonna.

    You’re welcome, Jordie. ;)

That’s How I Escaped My Fate is one of my favourites. Like you said, some of Trail of Dead’s songs are pretty shamelessly influenced by this band.

Someone unfollowed me right after that wedding ring image. Wonder if they thought I was serious?

When I was little, and I’d go swimming, kids would tell me to dunk and I told them I didn’t like to dunk because I don’t like getting my face wet. And they said “Well then how do you shower”

WELL ITS A DIFFERENT SENSATION ISN’T IT??? YOU CANT DROWN IN A SHOWER DOOFUS. well i guess you could if you REALLY TRIED but its nearly impossible

Evan Cooper, you are my favourite.

    This new band is going to be fucking mental. Current ideas being bandied about;

    • Two drummers
    • Saxophone player
    • Cello player
    • DRONES TO FUCK
    • Twin projections overlaid on top of each other
    • No stage lighting, not ever

Basically I have become a pretentious muso twat and I am totally okay with this.

HCDP are so good!, not enough people like them

They really are shamefully underrated. Their new record (well, the two EPs; putting them together as one album sucked a little) is excellent.
